W. Wells Corp. is a North Carolina Licensed General Contractor building custom homes in the Greater Wilmington Area. We have been building custom homes since 1984, first in a Maryland suburb outside Washington DC, and now in North Carolina. My wife and I enjoyed our second house here for years, and like so many other people, decided to make the Wilmington area our home.
W. Wells Corp. is a family run business. We have created an excellent network of dedicated sub-contractors who are willing and able to meet our high standards. Due to our requirements for personal supervision of your home and to ensure a pleasurable custom home building experience for our customers, we limit our workload during the year.
Communication throughout the construction of your custom home is vital. We are always available during business hours and by fax/email 24 hours a day. We listen to your needs and work together with you to meet those needs. On occasion during the construction process, we may see an opportunity to improve the house plans. If this occurs, we will contact you to discuss your options and gather your input. Our continual pursuit of excellence assures that you move into your quality custom home that was built on time and with care.
Some of our Building Features are outlined below. If you are considering a custom home in the Greater Wilmington Area, please contact us at 910-458-9907 or online.
Stairs:
We take great pride in our stair work. All stairs are fabricated in the home to ensure an exact fit. The components are assembled with construction adhesive and screws, then professionally finished.
Your stairs will look and walk right!
When possible, we like to install a full staircase leading to a floored attic. This adds a valuable storage area to your home. The pictures here show examples of our staircases.
Custom Cabinets and Built-ins:
Most of the homes we build incorporate some degree of custom cabinets or built-ins. We are very accomplished in both areas. Often we can use stock cabinets, combined with special touches to create a true custom look. The pictures to the right show examples of our work using stock cabinets.
Elevators:
Elevators add immeasurable value to your home! If your house is two stories or higher, we strongly recommend installing an elevator. For simply moving furnishings and groceries, to preparing for a possible physical ailment, an elevator may be crucial for your lifestyle.
Keep in mind, an elevator is not just a luxury item. Elevators cost less than many people realize and their uses are endless. The pictures to the right show examples of our elevators.
Docks:
While building a waterfront home, we can construct any water work you desire. We have built bulkheads, stationary docks, gazebos, and floating docks.
While we sub-contract the installation of the pilings, our framing carpenters complete all the remaining work. The pictures to the right show projects that are completed, and projects that are under construction. You can see larger versions of these pictures by clicking on any one of them. Of particular importance is how we construct our floating docks.
After the destruction caused by Hurricanes Bertha and Fran, it was obvious that floating docks had to be much stronger, and that pilings had to be much taller above the high tide mark to compensate for storm surges. We examined many floating dock designs and added our input to develop the design you see in the pictures to the right.
All the structural members are bolted and the deck boards are hand nailed with stainless nails. This is a very structurally sound design and we have never had a floating dock damaged by a hurricane.
If your home requires the construction of a well-crafted water structure, such as a gazebo or dock, then you can count on W. Wells Corp. to deliver a superior product.
